New World Mixed Martial Arts / TAIKENJU-RYU Martial Arts Academy of Philadelphia offers ALL-inclusive Freestyle Martial Arts training. Our affiliated students are located in dojos and gyms in the United States and in various parts of the world.
New World Mixed Martial Arts training is the application of Traditional philosophy with modern principles of self-defense. We provide a strong variety of Mixed Martial Arts training to fit the needs of our diverse student base. New World Mixed Martial Arts training and curriculum focuses on what we call the 4 Primary Attributes: Aliveness, Adaptability, Speed, Economy of Motion. We incorporate concepts from many martial arts styles but swear to none. All knowledge can be useful.
New World Mixed Martial Arts offers training under the guidance of Head Coach, Master Bill Bryan and his many years of dedication to the martial arts. Having earned Black Belt and Instructor levels in several styles and systems of martial arts, Master Bill has developed a unique system of self-defense that is easy to learn and quick to apply if applied in a physical confrontation. Our program offers training in formal training Traditional Martial Arts, JKD / Kali / Silat, Self- Defense and Combat Sports.

CURRICULUM / Class Descriptions
TKJR KARATE
This is our specialized and exclusive System of American Martial Arts (American Free-style) that combines ideas and concepts from 4 styles of martial art forms. The system of "Taikenju-Ryu Freestyle Karate & Mixed Martial Arts is our unique combination of Shotokan Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Aikido, American Kenpo Karate and Shindo Yoshin Jujutsu. TKJR for short is the FOUNDATION, ROOT and BASIS of all eclectic martial art we teach here at our New World Mixed Martial Arts program.
TKJR training teaches the age old values of Respect, Discipline, Courage, Honor while helping students develop Speed, Timing, Power & Balance. This course is ideal for children, women and men who are looking to get their feet wet in the martial arts world and develop a solid martial foundation . TKJR can be a great addition to your existing martial art program or first step on your Budo (Warrior Way) path!
JEET KUNE DO / JKD Tactics / Jun Fan Gung Fu / Jun Fan Kickboxing
Commonly known as the “Way of the Intercepting Fist”, developed by the legendary Bruce Lee, “Jeet Kune Do” or JKD is the modern answer to street self-defense. Students learn to find their own path to understanding themselves. Unlike some traditional martial arts, Jeet Kune Do is not fixed or patterned, and is a philosophy with guiding thoughts of fighting and self defense.
JKD uses the principles of the 4 Ranges of Fighting, Footwork and Mobility, Street Tactics and Economic Striking and integrates them into a personal efficient fighting system. Students will learn concepts such the 4 Attributes of Aliveness, Adaptability, Speed and Economy of Motion while developing real world skills in kicking, punching, trapping and grappling ranges. This course is ideal for students of all experience levels and looking to simplify their martial arts experience.
Amanjafi Kali / Silat - FIMA (Filipino-Indonesian Martial Arts)
Kali / Silat (or Filipino Indonesian Martial Arts) is a total and complete system of hand & weapons fighting methods. Based on the principles of angles, timing and leverage, FIMA helps the student develop almost “catlike” reflexes and awareness regarding weapons ranges. Students learn powerful defenses against edged, firearms, blunt objects and close range hand to hand tactics. Fear not, the "weapon attack"!
S.T.A.R.T (Street Tactical Awareness Response Training)
This tactical martial arts course curriculum is ideal for students of all experience levels including urban, street and wilderness survival methods. We also have a career specific curriculum titled S.T.A.R.T. (Street Tactical Awareness Response Training) for our LEO, Teir1, EP and Military membership.
KaoLoy Muay Thai / (Thai Boxing)/ Muay Boran
Muay Thai (Muay Boran) originally was developed by the Warriors of Thailand as a means of brutal hand to hand and weapons combat. The concept of “Wound the body, wound the spirit” is utilized by using what is widely known as the devastating "Art of 8 Limbs": kicks, knees, elbows and punches.
On the sport fighting end... Thai Boxing is known as the “King of the Ring” and one of the world’s most effective of the combat sport arts. Thai Boxing ring sport and physical conditioning is like NO other! Sweat until you drop! Thai Boxing will give you that winning edge in the ring fighting scenario. Remember, only the strong survive! We offer several levels of skills training, both amateur and Pro for students with all ability levels and goals.
Submission Grappling / CaCC "Catch Wrestling"
Because of No Hold Barred or (MMA), Submission Grappling has now elevated to the fastest-growing viewed combat sport around the world. As its name suggests, MMA combines a "mix" of techniques from various other fighting systems, including Catch Wrestling, Japanese Shooto, Jujutsu (Japanese and Brazillian), Sambo and Judo. As well as Muay Boran and Bando.
Our specialized Submission Grappling curriculum focuses on our unique blend of various styles of CaCC "Catch As Catch Can, and incorporates all Ranges of Grappling and Clinch. In this Mixed Submission Grappling program, we give the student a stronger, more technical base and structure in their martial arts ground and submission game. Our motto is Tap or Snap.
MMAC / F.I.T (Fight Intensive Training)
MMAC OR Mixed Martial Arts Conditioning is the Ultimate in physical conditioning programs. In this program, our clients develop Strength, Endurance, Cardio, Flexibility, Speed and Coordination like the pro’s”! This course is athletic training at its best. Punch, jump, kick, squat, press, curl, run and crunch your way to that iron sculpted body you see in the fitness magazines.
We apply many concepts from all of our other courses so you get the BEST blend of functional conditioning and combat sport applications. This course is ideal for members and students of all experience and fitness levels, as well as fighters and athletes trying to up their "A" game.
